Dating app Once closes $5.5m Series A to expand globally

Online dating

Once, an online dating app, has raised a $5.5m Series A round, bringing the company’s total funding to $8.9m.

The recent financing, which includes a second wave from VC firm Partech Ventures, also drew in support from VCs and private investors.

Once plans to use the funds to facilitate development in France, Germany and the UK, as well as expansion into new global markets.

Jean Meyer, CEO and founder of Once, commented: “This is a great achievement in the first year of launching our slow dating concept.

“We are delighted that Partech Ventures recognize the potential our app has to globally reform the online dating scene.”

The dating app, which provides personalised, data-driven matches, limits users to just one match per day, a concept which the founders call ‘slow dating’.

Romain Lavault GM at Partech Ventures, said: “Dating is a really exciting space for us as it attracts massive audiences from around the world.

“Once has a unique approach to serious dating, creating a more human experience and we look forward to supporting its growth.”
