BT has launched a competition to find ground-breaking technology which could be deployed in sports broadcasting.
The BT Infinity Lab competition is looking for startups and entrepreneurs with innovative digital media and production solutions, with the winning idea potentially trialled by BT Sport.
The winner will also receive six months’ support from BT’s research and innovation teams as well as six months’ membership of TechHub.
Entries are encouraged to focus on aiding a sports TV viewer’s experience through technologies including apps, augmented reality, as well as innovations in studio side production.
The competition is been backed by BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey, who will be one of the members of a judging panel once a shortlist has been selected.
“I’m a massive techie; I love the latest gadgets, technology and apps,” he said. “During my time as a TV presenter I’ve also seen huge changes in the technologies and innovations being used by broadcasters and I can’t wait for the next invention.
“So, I’m delighted to be joining up with this initiative. My advice to entrants would be aim high, but be realistic in terms of how your innovations can be used in the real world.”
Entrants can now submit their suggestions and applications to http://www.btplc.com/btinfinitylab/btsportcompetition/index.htm.
The closing date for entries is Sunday 6 December.
The finals will be held at a BT Sport Studios in London on 28 January 2016.
