Mobile phone payments are growing steadily across the world. Millions of people globally use Apple Pay or Google Pay for everyday purchases, from grocery deliveries to pet supplies to home office goods.

Integrated into Apple and Google Pay

Capitalising on the situation, Coinbase, an online cryptocurrency platform, has announced that it has integrated its Coinbase Card with both Apple Pay and Google Pay.

“You can now use your Coinbase Card with Apple Pay and Google Pay to make it even easier to spend crypto at home and on the go,” says Coinbase blog.

The Coinbase Card added to the wallet can be used to buy everyday goods with digital currencies. The company said it would automatically convert all cryptocurrency to US Dollars and transfer the funds to a customer’s Coinbase Card for use in purchases and ATM withdrawals.

“Starting this week, we’ll invite select customers off the waitlist. If you’re already on the waitlist for Coinbase Card, you’ll soon receive an invitation to apply,” says the company.

4% crypto rewards

Coinbase says users can earn up to 4% back in crypto rewards on their shopping when a Coinbase Card is used with Apple Pay or Google Pay. Further, both Apple Pay and Google Pay use tokenisation to keep your card information safe and enable secure purchases.

Besides the virtual card, Coinbase will send you a physical Visa debit card in the post once you signed up.

How to add?

If you’re a Google Pay user, you can add your Coinbase Card from the Google Pay app.

If you’re an Apple Pay user, you can add your card from the Apple Wallet app or from within the Coinbase app. On the iPhone, open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add your card.

Within the Coinbase app, you’ll have the option to add your card to Apple Pay as soon as you’re approved for your card. You can also add your card to Apple Pay within settings: from your card home, -> tap Manage -> tap Add to Apple Wallet.

Revolut started withdrawal

Last month, London fintech company Revolut launched a bitcoin withdrawal and said they will add more tokens soon. Currently, the mobile app allows users to buy and sell 22 different cryptocurrencies.
