Breathe life into your old speakers with The Vamp

Love the sound quality of your old speakers? Bring them into the 21st Century with The Vamp

The Vamp is a device that will transform any tired old speaker into a cool portable bluetooth speaker that can connect to your smartphone instantly.

Although it may be small, The Vamp has both an amplifier and a rechargeable battery built into it, so it should be compatible with almost any speaker you’re likely to have lying around the house.

Designer Paul Cocksedge, creator of the the small cuboid device, studied at the Royal College of Art under Ron Arad and has done installations for clients as high profile as BMW.

Bring Back The Sound

Paul Cocksedge is trying to raise £35,000 on Kickstarter to fund the project, and pledging £35 on the campaign page will secure you one of the first Vamps to be made.

Portable Bluetooth speakers

Cocksedge reckons the current offerings of bluetooth speakers on the market are over-priced and tend to have poor quality sound for the money you pay, and The Vamp is his low-cost solution.

The Vamp comes with an audio cable and can connect to speakers via cable connector too, and just in case you want to use it with a non-bluetooth device, there is also a simple line-in.

It is also magnetised to stick to the top or the side of the speaker, and the built in battery means even the oldest speakers can become portable.

The Vamp’s design is simple and elegant, and is ideal for anyone who loves their tech but also appreciates the aesthetic of a beat-up old speaker.

If funding is secured, The Vamp will launch at the London Design Festival in September 2013.
