London blockchain startup Everledger has won $10,000 in prize money at the FinTech Finals 2016.
The startup, which uses distributed ledger technology to track and verify diamonds, was named ‘Best in the Show’ after pitching to professionals from the world of FinTech.
The event, held in Hong Kong as part of the StartmeupHK Festival, saw 23 other startups competing and pitching their products.
Participants, a statement said, were judged on their business model application, scale, concept, technology and potential market reach.
The news comes amid increasing interest in distributed ledger technology and after the startup was awarded €30,000 in prize money after winning BBVA’s European Open Talent competition in September last year.
