Appear Here pop-up shops up for grabs in Space for Ideas competition

Short-term space platform Appear Here has got three central London pop-up shops up for grabs as part of its Space for Ideas competition to support upcoming entrepreneurs.

The London-wide competition, sponsored by the London Evening Standard and EE, is aimed at companies that have “an idea that puts the rest of what’s on the high street in the shade: originality, a great story and an awesome experience”.

Along with a two-week pop-up in August, the three winners will also get ad spend in the Evening Standard, design budget and an EE tech bundle for their store.

Entries will be judged by an expert retail panel, including Cambridge Satchel Company founder Julie Deane, former head of iTunes in Europe and now restaurateur at Ceviche Martin Morales, and TV broadcaster Dawn O’Porter.

Ross Bailey, CEO and founder at Appear Here, said: “Marc Jacobs, Jamie Oliver and even Apple have launched shops through our site, though the majority of our community are independents looking to bring their ideas to life. We’re launching the inaugural Space for Ideas competition to give away three shops to find the three biggest brands of tomorrow.

“Some of the most exciting retailers and startups of the moment started out in Appear Here’s spaces, from Finery London to Crosstown Donuts and PRESS London. This summer we hope to find three more at the start of their journey.”

Entries close at midnight 29 June and the winners will be unveiled on 16 July.
