Connectivity continues to be one of the most talked about issues in and around Tech City. Earlier last year there were rumours of some startups waiting up to a year to get a good internet connection.
But while we’re waiting for better connectivity, business opportunities are being lost and the future growth of London’s tech scene is put at risk.
Superfast broadband
Recent research by TalkTalk for Business revealed 53% of businesses said they were very or quite likely to consider switching over to Superfast Broadband. More alarmingly, despite the recent interest in faster connections, the research also showed one in ten businesses are still using a dial-up internet connection.
But what does better connectivity mean for your startup?
Beyond the obvious benefits of having a faster environment for your workers to access information from the web, it could also mean your team can use newer ways to communicate, such as Google Hangouts or VOIP calls.
These new ways of communicating could mean bigger savings from your business telephone bills and more flexible working for your staff. But this all comes at a cost, Cisco predict our global internet traffic to quadruple compared to current rates. They think traffic could be as high as 966 exabytes per year.
The internet is the very lifeblood of many tech businesses in London, don’t let yours get choked by poor connectivity.
