Meet Alex Depledge from Hassle – Our Startup of the Week
Every week we’ll publish a 30 second pitch from 12 leading startups from across London. In this series we took the founders to the River Thames, aboard Canary Wharf’s speedboat for the most exciting pitch of their lives.
Removing hassle from the household
Hassle – formerly known as Teddle – is a booking site for cleaners.
An ever-expanding network of independent cleaners, Hassle lets you book someone to clean your house in minutes.
The easy-to-use website, flat rate of £10 an hour and security of a money-back guarantee make Hassle an appropriate name for everything it removes from the process.
Squeaky clean
Cleaners go through strict screening processes and are even interviewed in person before being listed.
What’s more, only a deposit is required before the first clean, and there’s no obligation to carry on.
As for the cleaners, they get between £8 and £9 per hour and aren’t charged a penny by the website.
Spotless
If Hassle sounds like a simple idea that’s because it is.
But a glance at their website shows why the startup has been so successful – the process couldn’t be more user-friendly.
So far Hassle has delivered over 17,000 hours of cleaning.
Life solutions
But it’s not just household grime Hassle want to tackle, according to Founder Alex Depledge.
Eventually we will look at offering other services to remove hassle from people’s lives.
The startup was originally inspired by the difficulty of finding a piano teacher.
Once we have established cleaners we will begin rolling our platform out to other service categories such as carers, tutors, personal trainers and many more.
The cleaning service is due to launch in Manchester in early November, with other services to follow soon.
