Download of the Week: Swiftkey means no more embarassing typos

Each week we trawl through the internet’s jumble sale of apps to bring you a cool, new app that will make your life better.

SwiftKey is one of the big success stories in London’s tech scene for a very good reason – their keyboard is great.

Originally only available on Android, it has finally made its arrival on to iPhones and iPads with the release of iOS 8.

Better prediction

Standard keyboards are so 2012.  There’s now a plethora of 3rd-party keyboards on most mobile operating systems.

Everyone has at some point or another gotten very fed up with basic predictive text – not least when you are texting someone about your annoying ducking neighbours.

SwiftKey learns from how you type to deliver personalised predictive text. Even before you’ve started typing the next word, it has often guessed it correctly, saving you the hassle of typing it at all.

Swipe away

For anyone tired of frantically poking away at their phone screen, SwiftKey lets you swipe from letter to letter to form words, which might even help your RSI. (No promises.)

The keyboard has even got an endorsement from Stephen Fry, who did the voice over for their most recent advert.

If you’re feeling particularly scary and spooky in the lead up to next week, you can also download the Swiftkey Halloween themes which they recently unveiled.
