Meet the co-founder of online medium-term stay marketplace FlatClub, which is an alumni of the Tech City News Elevator Pitch Competition.
In one sentence, what does your company do?
FlatClub is helping people move to a new location on a budget – we make it fast and easy.
Where are you based?
We have 35 team members in London and 20 in Yerevan, Armenia.
How did the idea come about?
We recognised the challenges of moving on a budget and, having talked to potential customers, we understood this pain is global.
What did you do before?
I worked in Israel for a number of startups as well as for a large bank. I learned it’s possible to build a successful company by solving customer needs, and decided to go for it.
What’s been your lowest point of running the company, so far?
Running a company is a rollercoaster. There are high and low points every day. The challenge is of course to focus on the positive, while learning from what doesn’t work.
What’s been the highlight of running the company, so far?
Feedback from customers. When I read the reviews and feedback of customers from all over the world, and understand how we create value to them, it’s an amazing feeling.
If you were an animal what would you be?
Cat. For their non-conformist view of life.
What’s your favourite TV show at the moment?
Transformers! I loved it as a child and now get to watch it with my son.
Which three people, dead or alive, would you invite to a fantasy dinner party?
I’d definitely invite my father – a true entrepreneur and my inspiration. At the age of 80 he is still running his own company, exceeding his goals and working harder than anyone I know.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to skip sleeping. I’d do so much more with a few more hours per day.
Would you rather be without elbows or without knees?
No elbows. It would improve my manners at a hockey stick rate.
Marmite: Love it or hate it?
Hate it, unless after four drinks.
Would you rather have huge clown feet or giant hands?
Clown feet. My first name sounds similar to the word Clown in Hebrew. It will be a perfect fit.
