NatWest Group is aiming to onboard 2,500 entrepreneurs to its latest accelerator programme, the most since its launch.

The NatWest Accelerator, taking place in September, will provide free coaching and networking support to startups with “high growth potential”.

The support will be delivered across 13 physical accelerator hubs across the UK and one digital programme. The hubs are in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Southampton, Warwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.

Participating businesses will not have to give up equity.

“The UK is home to some of the world’s most innovative startups, but it can be better at supporting ambitious business to grow, which is where our expertise comes in,” said Darren Pirie, head of the NatWest Accelerator.

“We understand that helping businesses succeed, not just through traditional lending but with full wraparound support, is crucial if we want a strong economy.

NatWest Accelerator alumni include fitness app GoJoe, which raised £1.2m in March in a round featuring former Manchester United player Michael Carrick.

“When we started with the NatWest Accelerator we were little more than two guys and a PowerPoint,” said GoJoe co-founder Phil Steele.

“Quite simply, the programme really has ‘powered us up’, been our sherpa and catalyst for growth. A no-brainer for ambitious startups.”
