Former Amazon and Microsoft senior employee Alex Mallet has been appointed chief technology officer of London-based fintech Primer.
Primer, which was valued at just shy of half a billion dollars following its 2021 £38m funding round, develops payment infrastructure for merchants.
Mallet has joined the City of London fintech after spending over a decade at Amazon managing software development and product localisation across various regions.
Before that, Mallet worked for another decade as a development manager at Microsoft.
“As we continue to lead the charge in payment innovation for global customers, it’s crucial that we bring in experienced leaders to champion our vision,” said Gabriel Le Roux, co-founder and CEO of Primer.
“With Alex’s track record of building global engineering teams, we are confident that he will play a pivotal role in propelling our product suite forward.”
Most recently, Mallet has been leading the engineering department of Berlin-based logistics startup Forto.
“Primer’s innovative approach to serving merchants globally resonates with my personal belief in building great products that solve customer problems,” said Mallet.
“I’m excited to evolve Primer’s offerings, focusing on feature-richness, reliability, and security, to drive even greater value for our customers.”
Mallet will continue to operate out of Berlin, with the bulk of Primer’s business being managed remotely.
