Meet Nidhima Kohli from MyBeautyCompare – our Startup of the Week
Welcome to the fourth episode in the Elevator Pitch series 3.
Every week we’ll publish a 30 second pitch from 12 leading startups from across London. In this series we took the founders to the top of 40 Bank Street in the heart of Canary Wharf for the most exciting pitch of their lives.
There’s a plethora of choice when it comes to beauty products. There’s the trial and error of finding the correct one that suits you. There’s the hassle of getting advice from sales people in shops. It’s all a bit much.
By taking the guesswork out of purchasing beauty products MyBeautyCompare aims to solve all these problems.
Unbiased advice
Like many women, Nidhima had some skin concerns (sensitive and dry skin) and was tired of wasting money on beauty products that were not working for her.
Tired of getting biased advice from counters and unpersonalised advice from the media, she created MyBeautyCompare – effectively confused.com for beauty.
By filling out a beauty profile, the website scrolls through thousands of beauty product recommendations to find the perfect product for you. They provide over 150,000 products across skin care, makeup, body, hands and feet, hair and fragrances across a range of prices.
Award-winning start
It has been a successful start for the beauty startup, whose model is the same as most price comparison websites.
In their first four months, they have won three awards and increased their user base by 200% a month – all without a marketing budget.
Nidhima explains why she thinks they have been successful thus far:
MyBeautyCompare allows consumers to discover unbiased personalised product recommendations based on crowdsourcing, ingredients, expert advice and lifestyle choices.
We take the guessing out of shopping, save time and money and help people look hot.
Going from strength to strength, they have plans to roll out a brand new website as well as expand their team.
