Meet Ralph Wilson, co-founder of MyLED – our Startup of the Week.
The Elevator Pitch Series
MyLED solves one of life’s little problems – checking your iDevice for notifications and updates when you’ve left it on silent.
It’s a simple accessory that plugs into the headphone socket of your iPhone/iPad and adds a notification lamp (just the like the one on your old Blackberry) to keep you up to date without the need for ringers.
The product was crowdfunded on Kickstarter and raised just under $30,000.
Latest developments
- The design has been adapted, thanks to Kickstarter feedback. The final product is now 3mm shorter than the original design
- The iOS app and user interface is now complete and has been accepted by the Apple App Store (one of the project’s initial risks)
- The first batch of manufacturing is underway, once final prototypes are approved production of the first units will begin
- The team are now working on getting myLED into retail shops
- They’re also working on a new website and are for the time being are taking pre-orders here.
