Buzz Radar – Our startup of the week

Meet Patrick Charlton from Buzz Radar – startup of the week

Every week we’ll publish a 30 second pitch from 12 leading startups from across London. In this series we took the founders to the River Thames, aboard Canary Wharf’s speedboat for the most exciting pitch of their lives.

Making sense of the social web

Many of us are drowning in a sea of tweets, instagrams and status updates. There are numerous services out there that promise to help you manage the conversations your company needs to manage across multiple platforms.

Buzz Radar, a startup based out of Google Campus in London, has taken a completely different approach and aims to help you better understand the social web.

By creating what they call ‘mission controls’ for brands, they capture all of the relevant data from social media, analyse it and then visualise on screens. The visualisations are designed to give an at a glance view of what’s happening on the social web for any member of staff.

Revenue generating

patrick_charltonPatrick Charlton [pictured right], founder at Buzz Radar told Tech City News they’re already on track to bring in a million dollars of revenue this year.

Patrick says companies are starting to realise how valuable social visualisations can be:

The market’s coming to us – the need for visualisations and for bringing social data to the core of organisations is widely becoming clear.

Their clients include Nokia, Red Bull and Skype, and the team recently installed a giant version of the system at the Cannes Lions Festival.

Brands pay a monthly subscription of between £750 and £1500, and Buzz Radar also offers a bespoke service with further customisation of the platform.

The system currently uses flash for the visualisations but Patrick told Tech City News they plan to develop an HTML5 version in the near future.
