BeyondMath, a Cambridge-based AI company, has announced it has secured $8.5m (£6.5m) in seed funding.
The round was led by UP.Partners, with participation from Insight Partners and InMotion Ventures, the investment arm of JLR.
This funding will support BeyondMath’s mission to reshape engineering practices globally with its AI-driven multiphysics simulation platform.
The company aims to change a field that still relies on “decades-old technology and is ripe for disruption with AI,” according to its founders.
Founded by Alan Patterson and Darren Garvey, the company claims that its platform accelerates engineering iterations by a factor of 1,000 compared to current solutions.”
The pair, who both have decades of experience working in AI, previously worked together at Google and eBay. Garvey also worked as part of the team at Evi Technologies that built the AI acquired by Amazon and transformed into Alexa.
To help achieve their mission of redefining physics-based engineering, BeyondMath is among the first to adopt an NVIDIA DGX H200 system to enhance the capabilities of its platform.
DGX H200 systems claim to provide AI supercomputing, allowing BeyondMath to train its physics solver at industrial scales and helping it deliver even more groundbreaking solutions to its customers.
“The NVIDIA DGX H200 is a game-changer for AI-driven simulation,” said Alan Patterson, CEO of BeyondMath. “With its robust computing power, we’re equipped to push the boundaries of what is possible in physics-based engineering.”
This isn’t the startup’s first round of funding. In 2022, it received £1.5m in pre-seed funding, also led by UP.Partners, with participation from The Creator Fund, Ex-Fi, and private investors.”
